I have a 1989 Born Free Class C RV. I started out camping with my family in 2008 with a "starter" popup for $600. In March 2009 I camped for the first time with JoeCamper aka the Mayor. My wife tolerated it and we quickly moved up to a larger popup with some bells and whistles. My wife tolerated camping much better with the larger popup for $1,500. In 2011 Joe asked me to help out with CanvasCampers running the FaceBook Page (Have you liked it yet??)
We started thinking about upgrading again and my wife and I talked and it became clear that we would need a TT or HTT. She wanted a shower, hot water, AC, a comfy couch to sit on. So I began my search for the proper trailer. At the same time it became clear that my "extra" vehicle, a full size Ford van was not going to last long. So I would be looking at $5k for a trailer and another $5k for a TV. Hmmmmmm
I started looking at some Class C's and found this one for $4k in October 2012. I sold my pup for $1,500 and my van for $1,500 so I look at it as I paid only $1,000 for it. I made some repairs to it and it is working well for us. It isn't new, but in 1989 it was a top of the line RV costing $60k :omg: The fact that it was top of the line by a good company (Born Free) is why I bought it.
It is 26 feet long on a Ford E350 chassis with a 460 motor with a 3 speed transmission weighing 11,000#'s. It has 50k miles. There is a twin+ bed in back, king over the cab and double couch. Fridge, microwave, oven, stove, sink, shower, toilet, fridge, freezer, heat, etc. I don't recall the exact numbers, but I believe I carry 30 fresh gallons, 20 grey and 15 black.
With the Class C I am not sure, but I think I heard my wife say she has enjoyed camping a few times
