Greetings All,
I live in the Athens area, work in Cornelia, my son lives back home in Charleston, SC and most of my friends live in Atlanta. Can't think of why I would want a camper!
I recently inherited a 1984 Coleman Columbia from my parents. They didn't use it or maintain it unfortunately. There is some water damage in the top that appears to be restricted to the outer edge, not the ceiling. Not much wrong with it other than that.
That being said, I have a few questions for the veteran camper mod folks:
1. What is the best tear down video/ photo instructional site out there?
2. I will be reinforcing the top to load down with gear...anyone have a feel for how much weight is the maximum for the top?
3. This camper has a rear bumper that looks like an add on. Assuming it is solid, what about an over the top set of rails that distributes weight to the rear bumper and tongue for the boat rack?
Thanks and looking forward to seeing you out there!
Hi boater_j. Sorry for the late welcome, but I'm just seeing this thread. We actually live over in Winder (work in Gainesville) so we probably have a similar commute.
Hope you're making progress with your NTU camper. Feel free to ask lots of questions on here and there have been many folks who have done mods and sadly roof rebuilds. I know I've seen a few video series on YouTube for roof repair, so if you haven't checked, I would look there.
Also, we do a Southeast Rally (just met over in Acworth last weekend). We're planning one for Spring and would love to have you join us 🙂 Best of luck and we'd love to see some pics of your progress!
