No. the "dark side" is definitely camping. I actually consider a PUP closer to a TT than tent camping.
I had TTs for many years until the bottom dropped out and my choices went from "Do I get a new cellphone or a new laptop" to the dreaded choice "Do I keep my new TT or do I keep my house"? --- The house won. It took 3 years to gather up enough $$ to buy a nice used camper (and it happened to be a PUP). I really like my PUP, but I still dream of a TT someday. At least Im camping and enjoying life again.
I still consider a PUP more like a TT though. You have a floor thats not just covering rough ground. You have actual beds. You have a hard roof and "fairly" secure siding. You have a fixed stove. You have a fixed table. Depending on options-you might even have a fixed fridge, A/C, toilet, water heater, furnace. YUP. Thats sounds more like a TT than a tent to me.
Congrats on the NTU TT.
