about a month ago i bought a 92 starcraft popup from a friend for 150 bucks, nice shape except the canvas is falling apart (875 bucks)
so i have been saving for the canvas........well a pop top mini truck camper for my toyota and dakota popped up for 1400 bucks, and they are real hard to find......it's a early 90's star lite in decent shape and ready to camp in........my plans were to sell off some catalytic convertors and scrap car parts and an old rusty bronco that nobody will give me 500 bucks for.
so this morning a friend emailed me asking if i want his camper for 1500 bucks as is.....it's a 2003 trail lite bantam.......fathers day weekend he blew a tire and it tore up the floor under the water heater and ripped off the fender trim......they put the spare on and the other tire blew, and i had to go bring him a tire and wheel (ford mini spare was all that fit lol) other than the damage it's in excellent shape and weighs 2,000 lbs empty, so i could haul that with any vehicle i own.
what should i do?
another option is to
My thought....buy the pop top camper for the toyota. If they are hard to find then when will you find one again? That is the only one that you can start camping in right now. You will still have the starcraft that you can put canvas in if the pop top is too small. The 2003 trail lite sounds like a good deal as well, but it also needs work.

the deal on the travel trailer fell thru, someone offered him 3 grand cash for it, i don't blame him for taking it.
going to have a look at the pop top truck camper as soon as the seller gets back from vacation, my buddy had to go get a camper jack for his truck camper on friday and looked it over for me and said it's real solid.....so a scrapping i go
