We went to the dealer to pick up our n2u pop-up today and while we were waiting for the salesman to finish up with another customer we decided to look at the other used pop-ups and wouldn't you know it we found one we liked a lot better for only a little bit more money so now we pick this pop-up up on Fri now I have another week to wait until I can finally bring our first pop-up home hope it goes by fast
Lol - that's got to be some sort of record of short ownership 🙂
We've got two years of pup ownership under our belts and are still learning what to bring and what our system is. This after years of tent camping.
This year we are working hard to duplicate bedding and kitchen. Save time and avoid forgetting key things.
I think the biggest difference between our first and second year was the first year we made use of all the kitchen storage to store kitchen stuff. But we set up our kitchen outside so it was a nightmare running in and out of the camper all the time. Now the kitchen is stored in rubbermaid bins that come out quickly and easily. I have no idea how it will all work for you but it was a hard learned lesson for us so I thought I'd share.
Two of the most important things you need and hope you never have to use are a jack the will work with the trailer and a lug wrench that will fit the trailers lug nuts... DO NOT assume that the jack or wrench from your tow vehicle will work, 9 times out of 10 they wont.... Also a roll of duct tape... has tons of uses and has saved many o' camping trips....
Birdland, you are SO right. My new years resolution last year was to not get angry with my family for not having the same sense of urgency to leave home by a specific time for the start of camping trips. Just because I want to leave bya certaintime, tomiss traffic, arrive before dark, etc had absolutely not driving factor inhow fast the rest of my family was ready to leave. So now I get all my stuff ready and packedinto the camper on Thursday nights. Get the food onto the top shelf of house fridge, fridge in camper turned onto get cold, and have a beverage while requesting that they get their stuff packed so we can all relax and watch a program together on TV. I did pretty well in 2012 with keeping my cool and haveresolved the same for 2013, oh yeah and to lower my cholesterol too by making healthier meals, even when we're away.
My previous DW taught me a lesson in patience whenever we would travel because what ever time I had planned to leave I ended up adding an hour to three. Now with my current DW and two DD's I have an EDT as it allows for unforeseen things like setting the security system to "Away" and forgetting there was a helium balloon in the hallway that as it sinks may set off the motion sensor...turn around and pop the silly thing or we forgot a special toy. Hypertension isn't an issue now on trip days.
