I searched but didn't find a discussion about this topic. Our dog is scared of thunder to the point that she crams herself into the smallest place she can find. I wanted to know if anyone out there uses a thunder shirt, or has another thing they do to help with dogs anxiety while camping.

Brian/Brenda, I have used Thunder Shirts of my Norwegian Elkhounds when they were alive, and it certainly helped the most frightened one. The female, Tasha, was not really afraid of thunder but was simulating being scared because Ivan really was. I finally sold tlly he one for Tasha, but Ivan really needed his. He used to hide in the laundry room away from all windows and looked like Snoopy on top of the doghouse -- nose to his knees, sulking and afraid at the same time. After I bought the ThunderShirt to wrap around him, he was able to sit by my side, still in the Snoopy position, but not showing as much fear. It never worked 100% but I'd give it an 85%, which was much better than nothing. Many of the folks on my Norwegian Elkhound Rescue Group have used ThunderShirts and have varying results. I would suggest you check around locally for one to try and then return if it doesn't work. Check the size you need as well off their website. There is a not-for-profit Fun Time Dog Shop run by a lady from our Elkhound group that gives all its profits to rescue, not just Elkhounds, and the online store also offers lots of other safe and dog-tested (she has 3) items with great customer service. Yes, this is a plug for Fun Time Dog Shop, but it is a great website and serves rescue groups in a great way. Good luck.

If I still had the other one for Ivan, I would send it, but my daughter has a very frightened Chocolate Lab when he feels the storm coming. He is more 90% relaxed and one time, actually went to sleep during a storm.

I have one for my CharPei-Fox Terrier.  We haven't used it enough to notice a huge difference.  He gets scarred when it rains but is usually fine as long as he is wherever I am.  We didn't buy it for him, we got it from DW's grandmother who had one for her dog but passed away and this was a brand new spare one.
