All week, the nation has watched firsthand how far-reaching the effects of Hurricane Sandy have been. 111 homes were burned to the ground and 20 more were damaged when a six-alarm fire broke out in Breezy Point, New York. The historic boardwalk is now stripped to its foundations, a large section of it washed away in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Hundreds of thousands without electric and water... so many without a home to go back to.
Many of us are very lucky and have never experienced hard times like this. We can help the American Red Cross by making a donate. It won't rebuild their homes or put their lives back together. What it will do is provide temporary shelters, emergency response trucks loaded with boxed lunches, water and mental health workers, the basic things needed to help while they get back on their feet.
Consider making a donation:
-
[li]text "REDCROSS" to 90999 to send a $10 donation[/li]
[li]via telephone (800) 733-2767[/li]
[li]or click here on our ad banner to make a donation online.[/li]
We were so very grateful for the American Red Cross, not to mention all the congregations and businesses, that helped us get through the devastation here in Tuscaloosa after the tornado of April 27th, 2011.
Even though the victims of Hurricane Sandy will ALWAYS remember this day that changed so many of their lives, hopefully we can help ease the pain.
