What are your thoughts on the Nissan Titan? DW has given me the OK to start looking for a new TV.
I found a 2008 Titan in my budget that has what I want:

-4 door crew cab. My son is 5 and getting bigger. The extended cab with suicide doors are a PIA. :tickedoff:
-Towing capacity is 9,400#'s with 15,100 GCVW 😮
-2wd. My 2wd vehicles have been "off-road" more than my 4wd vehicles have ever been. 4wd cuts down the mpg and the towing capacity plus there are more items to break (3 front hubs on my Chevy Blazer)
-Running boards. My wife is short.

The ad had the gear ratio but they took it down because they are transfering it from another store for me to look at it. I was able to find out the 5.6 motor has 317hp with 385# torque and gets 12-17mpg. Reviews have said it is a towing beast. It also has a traction control system similar to a limited slip differential working off of the ABS system.

I have thought about the mpg. That is a concern for me.
I calculated the gas I use in my 4cyl Tacoma. The Tacoma gets about 19mpg. The Titan gets 12/17. I hear and used 15mpg as the average. If I did 15,000 miles per year and gas was $3 per gallon.....please don't get into a political gas discussion. I just used the $3 number for quick calculation.....it would cost $2,368 in the Tacoma and $3,000 in the Titan. A difference of $642. I can live with that.
Right now I have a Class C RV and that gas pig gets 7mpg with a 460 motor. I would see a savings in gas when I get rid of the RV and buy a TT.

Just about any V8 that has a large towing capacity will be a pig on gas due to the lower (or higher, I never get that right) gearing and rear. I have a 4cyl currently and I only average about 19mpg.....for a 4cyl >:( But I can tow 3,500 with that 4cyl 🙂 My wife gets 25+ with her 6cyl minivan. Titan is supposed to get 12-17mpg. I think a fair daily driving estimate is 15 which is what I used in my calculations.
I also know that with a big motor you have to have a very light foot on the skinny pedal. Stomping on the gas at every stop light will drop that number drastically. I am over being cool and speeding away from every stop sign/light/passing, etc.
I know there are other full size trucks that could get better mpg but at this time I can not afford them. I like the Dodge EcoDiesel that gets 25mpg or Ford's EcoBoost 6cyl that also gets around 25mpg......but they cost much more than this Titan which is $15k. The money saved buying a more efficient vehicle will never come close to the cost difference in the price of the trucks.

We will never get the answer to the Nissan Titan MPG question. I bought a 2008 Dodge 1500
