Anyone ever had shingles?
I thought I pulled a muscle in my stomach which has turned out to be full blown shingles.  :omg: OMG it hurts!
It is an adult version of the virus that causes chickenpox and it effects your nerves.  :'( Sometimes, the pain in the area where the shingles occurred may last for months or even years.

One of our service writers has it.  From what she said she's had it for years and it can "usually" be medicated.

Oh Joe, sorry to hear that. I had a full blown case about 2 yrs. I was encrusted w/ lesions also. One of the most horrible experiences of my life. Fortunately, once I got rid of them, I was not plagued by recurring pain, as many other folks are.

WOW - that really stinks....

Mom had them (full blown) about 8 years ago, and she was layed up in bed for about 2 weeks. Hope it doesn't take you that long to recover. Let us know if we can do anything to help ya.

Sorry to hear about your medical problem.  If you were in the hospital, you would be in isolation.  It is contagious.  This may be hard to do, but Joy needs to keep away from that part of your body.

So sorry to hear about your shingles. From what I hear it is incredibly painful, and one of the reasons they vaccinate young children against chicken pox now is to prevent shingles in adulthood. I worked with a man that had shingles in his eye, he was laid up for quite a while. I hope you're feeling better soon  🙂

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question and/or too personal  - I've heard conflicting reports as to whether shingles is always accompanied by a rash/lesions.  Did you have skin problems in addition to your pain?

I have no medical background, but shingles is a virus that starts from chicken poxs which sits dormant in your body and is thought to come out from stress.  😮 It effects your nervous system normally in a specific area, mine was on my lower back - left side.  I had red marks at each nerve ending from my spin around to my belly button.  I had a few bumps on the spine... thought it was bug bites.

I've heard of lesions and other things but didn't have it.  The discomfort/pain went through several stages with a week and a half hurting like hell.  :-[  I have gotten much better over the last week, thanks!

The funny part... if there is one?  When I went to pickup meds, there was a brochure says '60 or older... shingles isn't that far away' - I just turned 40.  :-

Look what you have to look forward to at 60.
Sorry... Glad to hear you're feeling better.
