Well, the much anticipated day has arrived for my stepson to leave for the Air Force.  We had a huge going away party for him yesterday that included both his friends and extended family that went off without a hitch and all had a good time.  There have been some pretty big problems between he and I at times, and I have actually really looked for this day to get here, I must admit now that its here, I am feeling both a little sad and empty.  I hope he does well!

You will no doubt notice a profound change in his attitude and demeanor in the upcoming weeks and months. He will be getting big lessons on team work, in fact, about the work ethic in general. Speaking of my own military experience, about my Dad, his expectations and demands on me were a day in the country compared to what I was subjected to from the military. We begin to see things in a much different light! The change, no doubt, will be good for him and your relationship with him.

In the coming weeks, He will certainly know what Duty, Honor, and Country means.  They will become a way of life for him.  Best of Luck to him.

You and Bev are in our thoughts. We will be facing this same thing I'm sure in a few years with our own son. Prayers and many thanks to Bev's son for his very brave decision.

God bless him and keep him safe. my brother is in the national guard and returned home from iraq 1 1/2 years ago. Tell him thank you for his service and for keeping us safe. he will grow up,  and be proud that he is making a difference.
