I am retired but still working. I work doing bookkeeping, housecleaning, babysitting (lately more than the "regular" two days a week), chauffering, gardening, planning meals/shopping/cooking, volunteering at church: choir, elder on session (heading a committee and attending to regular duties), women's Bible study treasurer, and whatever else comes up such as making and delivering meal for shut ins and visiting the sick. In between DH and I fit in camping whenever and wherever we can by marking the calendar far in advance so many of the other activities don't crowd us out. I still have one client from my old secretarial service business that keeps me busy for a couple of weeks on and off for his two symposia each year and typing a manuscript here and there as well. I have a hobby candle making business for pet memorials (and I am a member of the Norwegian Rescue group that listserv meets 24/7 on Moosedog) and used to do more crafts than now, but I like that pasttime as well as reading a lot. Coming up for air now..... Will soon be nursing our daughter back to strength and good health at our house while watching her twin boys (2 yrs. old) so they can be together while her DH runs his business.

Believe me, retirement is busy -- and that's the way I like it.

I work in a cubicle every day with a computer, assisting people over a phone.  I help solve their problems but many times I have to tell people things they don't want to hear.  I help solve about 70 - 80 problems a day.  Since work is boring I have a lot of hobbies.

Monday nights is Cub Scout night for my two sons.  Tuesday and Thursday nights are usually sports nights (soccer or baseball this spring).  Wednesday nights my wife and I host a small group from our church in our home.  Friday nights might be kids sports too.  Weekends are home/car/pup maintenance, Scout activities, lawn mowing, etc.  Any actual "free time" I find, I enjoy shooting and handloading.    🙂

I'm either cooking, planning on what to cook next, or finding a reason to have people over for dinner so I can cook.  Unless it's Tuesday night, in which case I'm rehearsing with Cobalt Blu.

LadyHawke....sorry for the confusion.  I wanted this to be a thread about peoples hobbies and activities, not neccessarily what people did for a living when not camping.

I like reading about the different hobbies.....maybe I'll pick up a new one 🙂

I have no time to do anything, my life is busy with my daughters. Monday's my two DD's(5 & 7) have acro, Thursday is tap & jazz, Saturday is rollerskating in the morning for the three of us, than ballet class in the afternoon for the two and for the last 4 months they have had practice for the Snow White ballet they are in as bunnies. Luckily that ends Sunday and than it is on to recital time in June, than off for the summer. I really can't wait til the youngest gets to dance class age in a couple of years. Yes, that was sarcastic.
Right now I get out to adult late skates on some Friday and/or Saturday nights in the NJ and PA area which usually run from 11pm-2am. Everyone else is in bed and I get to get out.

Best Regards,
Norm

I own a landscaping business so I play with big toys a lot of the time while at work. When not "working" I have 2 kiddos playing some kind of ball and the other kiddo is trying to figure out what she wants to do. When I do get sometime to play I like to blacksmith, I'm not good at it at all. I enjoy small woodworking projects. I enjoy doing a number of things but those are what I do the most.

In that case, more hobbies include kayaking, geocaching, and photography.  Most of these are done in conjunction with camping though....or on the weekends we stay close to home.

My goal in life is to be the person my dog thinks I am.

Watch football all day during the week.  And during the nights I am either shuttling the kids  :camperkid: to baseball  :baseballhat:, football or hockey practice.  Or there is a Cub Scout or Boy Scout meeting.  And if that is not enough I find the time to be Fire Chief  :chief: for my local VFD so I am either at calls or drills.  When I do get the rare free time  :D, I like to go fishing, skiing, or riding ATV's.  Makes getting away camping even more fun  :cowboy:.

wow - sorry I haven't replied sooner but I've had a lot going on at home...please be assured that I'm not trying to be a smarta**, just haven't had time to follow!

I'm pursuing my undergrad degree in middle school mathematics education.  I always have homework, but talking to my boys (high school senior and college sophomore) and hubby is much more interesting so that's what I do first; other household and academic chores follow.

Yet, there is always music in our house - hubby plays bass and I love singing along to my favorite tunes when he plays Rush, Yes or The Who.  I play the violin; I was classically taught (working on my 'dream piece' by Mendelssohn) but want to learn country/bluegrass (my other 'dream piece' that I'm working on is the Orange Blossom Special).  Pop has a place as well; Coldplay and Daft Punk emanates from the boys' rooms and I truly enjoy that too.  It's all good.

I love the sounds of nature when camping; it's a genre unto itself, and one that I always love to hear.  Whatever sounds I make during the non-camping season with my voice or man-made instruments will never measure up to what nature has to offer.

I have no time to do anything.

I work at an RV dealer. A typical work week is 10 hours a day Mon -Fri, and 7 hours on Saturday. Now Saturday is the problem since most folks want to pick their new RV on Saturday, this day can (and in the season, it usually does) turn in to a 15 hour day.

Now for the title of this post: What do you do during the week when you are not working? ---- That only leaves one day SUNDAY or SON  DAY. Its Church, then out to eat with family (real and church family), then grocery shopping. Then NAP time, well nap time till bed time anyway.
