I do a couple things, but my main thing is motorcyling. Within the last year I took back to going rollerskating and I usually do that once to twice a week. My two oldest DD's (5 & 4), have taken to it as well, and the youngest takes lessons once a week and the oldest will go with me to the rink on family nights. There are a few rinks that offer adult nights and one you can BYOB, so it is a cheap night out.
Best Regards,
Norm
My favorite thing to do when I am not camping is to go on the CanvasCampers.com website 😛
I am usually putzing around the house and doing things with my 3 year old son when I am not camping.

Fishing for big fish is mine, I have so little time off it seems that when I go fishing I target big fish , and yes my record in that dept. is really poor !! But that's life too , other than that I enjoy repairing things around the house , everything except carpentry , tell me how a toolmaker can't cut a board straight on a table saw, that would be me !! My father just shakes his head on that one ........
Over the last 6 mos., helping my daughter with her twin boys has taken at least a couple of days a week, but DH and I also spend time with the whole family a lot. Personally, I am on the computer a lot, always learning and researching for whatever comes along. I mill my own flour and make bread (there's a LOT to learn about bread!) and also like to read sci fi/fantasy (on my Color Nook). Retirement seems to include time at the doctor and running errands, so time is more limited or we're just getting slower and it takes longer!
(And, JoeCamper, Al makes his own wine too from kits. Don't worry, all will be well. He's been at it for a few years now and we've had some unbelievably great wine. You'll be a big hit with family and friends for sure.)
After 28 years in the fire service, I am now retired to be home to raise 2 of my grandchildren with special needs of different problems before and after school. I have learn to cook and clean house and do the laundry. I even shampoo the carpets at times.
For a hobby, I am designing and building a product to use on your camper to light up the exterior lights while camping without using the tow vehicle. It's called RV Nite Lite. I also raise chicken hens so I can get some fresh home grown eggs. I love to go hunting, fishing, and even a little airsoft here and there. I love being outside enjoying mother nature ether by camping or what ever activities to enjoy it all! I love reading Canvas Camper to learn of different crafts and modifications to make the camping experience even better!
I almost forgot, I enjoy meeting some good folks from this site who enjoy camping. They enjoy helping other camper in need of a problem or want to share their recipes or cooking secrets. It also valuable to learn about different campgrounds to explore that you never been to. Keep up the good works folks!
I guess my favorite thing is belonging to a family. This is something very new to me.
My next favorite is being a sub teacher in our school district. I'm especially thrilled with the high school's two culinary programs. So much so that I donated over 200 professional and OTC cookbooks to the program... and that was before I worked for the district.
Well I am not sure this is my favorite thing to do. However when I am not working, I usually seem to be doing something for some neighbor. You see DW & I are only in our mid 40s We are the youngest in our neighborhood. Most everyone is elderly. So it seems I am always doing something that one of my near & dear neighbor friends can not do anymore.
I truly love being outdoors. I try and spend as much time out there as possible. I hunt and fish A LOT! or so the DW says! Deer season has been open since Nov. 1 and I haven't been home to much. I only hunt deer with a bow ( I like to give them a better chance of survival and it's working!).
Turkey hunting is by far my favorite. They are a very elusive bird and to get them close enough to chunk an arrow at them is very difficult. I did manage to bag one last year that had a 12 inch beard and 1 inch spurs.
I love to bass fish also. This tends to take up alot of my spring and summer weekends. My largest in that field is 11lbs.
The good thing about these things I love doing so much is that we can incorporate camping into most of my trips!
Well it's almost 5am time to get out in the woods to search for that ever elusive buck!!!
Playing with our two dogs is my favorite thing. They adoppted us a couple of years ago and have stolen my heart every since. They have a smile on their face and wagging tails every time I arrive home from work. After a greeting like that it's a great stress release to get a couple of tennis balls and have a good game of fetch going in the back yard. They can play forever and really amaze me with some of their athletic abilities.
I lost my parents Oct. 9 and Nov. 20, 2011. As the only child, I inherited, and we moved into the house I grew up in. We had my stuff, my fiancee's stuff, and my parents' stuff. We've been culling through everything and donating to the church and the Salvation Army, eBaying and Craigslisting, local auctioning, and yard saleing. (And, we haven't even started on the stuff in the attic!) We've also been working on/in the yard: had a deck built built, dug and planted a garden, and some ornamental bushes as a hedge. There is a bank along the side of the property (that I hated to mow when I was a kid, and it hasn't gotten any better!), and we've killed the grass on it and next spring will plant ground cover. There are things we want to do to the front yard, but we'll be adding a pavilion to the 12' x 14' section of the next in Spring, so the front yard may have to wait. Hurricane Sandy destroyed two aluminum awnings on the front of the house (they went up in the mid-/late-1950s), and we had them replaced. We got married on June 30th, and honeymooned at New York's Finger Lakes. Other than those things, Maria quilts and sews, we write and publish cookbooks (Gourmet Camp Chow, Foiled Again! -- available at Lulu.com) and I published a volume of my poetry and one of my short stories (available at Lulu.com). We watch a bit too much TV and spend a bit too much time online. We enjoy Scrabble and Cribbage, here at home and while we're camping. we're both into photography, and I'm still -- after 35 years of Nikon and Leica film cameras) -- adapting to my Nikon DSLR. We both enjoy cooking (and we eat a bit too much!) We love up our two cats, and laugh at their antics. And, now, we're impatiently waiting for the next camping season.
