Many of the hobbies and interests I had 10 yrs ago, I have too much difficulty to do at present, (I'm disabled). The interest remains, but the frustration factor adds up.
Sewing, baking, embroidery, some crafts, gardening, bird watching are just a few. Computer activities (ie., games, making cards, address labels, etc) are a few things I can still do.
Many of my favorite activities take place while camping (beach, birdwatching, botany, stargazing, kayaking, and having a car ride long enough to sing along (loudly) to my favorite Prog Rock concept albums in their entirety (Tales From Topographic Oceans, Hemispheres, Quadrophenia)).
Favorite 'stationary home' activities are (no particular order): making music (favorite is violin, but also enjoy piano and guitar), gardening (veggies, ornamentals, bird/butterfly attractants, houseplants), sitting back and enjoying the garden and its wildlife, games with children and/or husband (backgammon, yahtzee, tetris, Texas-Hold-Em), television, and, most of all, spending time with family (husband, sons, sisters, nephews, parents).
As a family, I love spending time with our 2 grandaughters 4 and 8 and teaching them valuable life lessons like how to play pranks on people. We play lots of games like UNO and Monopoly. On my own I like to play guitar and harmonica, hunt hogs in the South Georgia swamps (I use a rifle), hunt deer, read lots of fiction, and play on the computer. Angry Birds is almost to the point of causing problems in our 39 year marriage. DW hears that game when I'm supposed to be doing something else and gives me "The Look".
My favorite thing is now working on our PUP. Sometimes I just look for things to tweak or improve.
I'm clueless about hunting hogs; I've honestly never heard of it (yep, go ahead and laugh!). Could you please make a post (either here or in Off-Topic) and give more info? I'm not trying to provoke an argument against eating them (I love pork chops, roasts, and sausages) or be a wise-a** or smartypants - I'm just curious, as it's something that I've never heard of in my geographic area (I'm just northwest of Philly). In what states can one legally hunt wild hogs? Do they live in social groups? What environments do they prefer? How does the taste of wild hog differ from domestically raised pigs?
tennis with a bunch of sarcastic guys is one of my fav non-camping things, most anything outside, especially if it can include a beach -- and note to Joe Camper- saw your family tree hobby, I'll have to get some pointers- recently found out we are blood-related to President Lincoln (our son resembles him)
As you might imagine my favorite thing to do is to plan parties and cook! I am constantly planning menus for upcoming dinner parties, camping trips (like the upcoming Promised Land). In fact, I am already planning, and shopping for, this year's Halloween Party! (Which will be an intimate affair for 8.) I have to say that I love it when, on the rare occasion, that Phil surprises me with the announcement of "Oh by the way, ________ is coming to dinner on Saturday." :chef:
Camping is of course is at the top of the list. Just being in the woods , we are fortunate enough to live in a cabin in the woods and border over 4,600 acres of stateland. Living here for 13 years it still is the most amazing thing - being able to just walk outside and you're in the woods. Some warmer weather would be nice about now though! My passion in the spring is morel mushroom hunting.I find it hard to stop looking once we find our first ones.Kayaking is also a great time ,it's so peaceful in the early morning when the sun is coming up and the fog is rising back up into the mountains.
