While winterizing and even between trips, we put Bounce sheets on the bunk ends and around the camper to keep the mice out.  I've only ever had a problem once and have used these ever since with great results.

I've also heard of people putting brass wool (steel wool rusts) around their pipes and hoses coming through the camper floor to stop animals.  What's worked for you?

We also use Bounce dryer sheets for over the winter.

Have never had a problem with mice.

While at the hardware store over the weekend, I picked up these Ultrasonic Rodent Repellents since I have the camper plugged in over the winter.  My neighbor uses them in his travel trailer and says they are great.

I'll preface this post by saying that I hope it doesn't upset anyone. That isn't the intent. I've always been a skeptic and in the case of Bounce sheets and ultrasonic pest control devices legitimate tests have shown that neither really works against pests.

Bounce has a page on its web site for "Clever Uses" and doesn't list pest control. If it really worked wouldn't the maker tout it there? The page does give instructions on making an origami flower from Bounce, though ...

Extension offices in several states have tested ultrasonic pest devices with very, very limited success. The FTC took action against several manufacturers of the devices for making claims of success that weren't backed by scientific evidence. Many of the devices are marketed with claims that they repel mice but won't bother household pets like hamsters and gerbils. Huh?

My claim for success, as the owner of five campers over the years and never having had a mouse problem, is taking the time to thoroughly inspect the entire underside and seal every crack and hole with brass or copper wool (steel wool also works but can also rust), caulk and/or foam. Many times the holes drilled for wire or pipe entry aren't sealed at all or aren't sealed very well. When we bought our 2007 Flagstaff I found a 1/2 inch hole drilled through the trunk floor and covered with just the edge of the vinyl flooring. There were no wires or pipes there, just an open hole.

If you want some extra insurance, traps and glue boards are proven.
