We had the camper set up in the yard for a few days and I also opened the awning. It would only be for 3 days and the forecast looked clear but rain came and the awning wasn't pitched to one side for the water to run off. The awning looked like the liner of a swimming pool when I got home from work and I can't believe that it didn't break.
Always remember to tilt your awning and tie it down, even if they are calling for great weather.
Stokes..We did the same thing on very first trip with the new pup. We were at the swimming area when a nasty storm blew in. We were waiting it out under the cover of the snack bar. I started thinking that I should head back since we never had the pup in rain. Boy was I glad I did. There had to be 20 gallons of water pooled up on the awning with the middle pole in the roof really bent out of shape from the water weight. I bet a few more minutes and it would have gave way. Luckily was able to bend the pole back into shape after draining the water.
Lesson Learned...Always leave a nice pitch with the awning.
