I didn't see a sub-forum for restorations, so forgive me for posting in the wrong area.

I'm going out to start working on my roof panel replacement on the Jayco.  All four sides need replaced, but the roof top itself seems fine.  First things first, I guess, remove the canvas from the top.

I'll try to take some photos of the progress.  Hoping this is a quick fix. Don't trust the weather to hold out and I'm working outside.

Wish me luck! :guitar:

Canvas is down and roof is supported.  Had to quit due to loss of day light.

Here's the damage on the inside of the roof panels that I'll be fixing.

That last one is the best, most solid portion of the roof-sides that's left.  It's insane how rotted and destroyed this is up here.  I bought 11/32" plywood to replace it with, so it will be a hair thicker than the original, but I'm hoping after sealing it with Spar Urethane that I never have to do it again.

Anyone happen to have a source for the gasket material that slides in the trim tracks?  Mine is coming out in hunks, just dried and crumbly and won't pull out clean.  And I know I'm not calling it by it's correct name.  Channel gasket, maybe?

Pictures tomorrow some time, but for today, I got all 4 sides stripped off, saved the aluminum skin and got the two long sides re-installed with new plywood.  Waiting on the end pieces to dry.

Once I get my trim molding and putty tape ordered, I'm looking at two more partial days until completion.

Not bad for a guy who's never done it before huh?  :chief:

Hey Bill ,
I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to do the same to my jayco this spring too. Could you give me any heads up on what I maybe getting into and also how is the wood fastened to the inside roof too. I bought a new canvas from Bear Creek so since I have to take the old canvas off any way, that would be the time to replace the wood for sure. Any info. you could or would post would be great for sure !! Thanks ,

My 1994 Jayco is similar in condition. It's paid for and works, for now, except that when roof is down for travel it is still up 1-2 inches, so no seal between box and roof. We are going to use it like it is and when the TV gets replaced, we'll shop for something else.
