I take it you have used this PUP many times in the past. If not, well they all go down by crank up to about the last inch or two. Then the lock downs do the rest.
If you have used it many times, and your top is not going down like it should, then check inside. See if something is holding it up. Check for a canvas buildup somewhere. Finally, I would lift it back up and check the support poles. One may be bent just a fuzz. Or maybe loose at top or bottom.
If all looks good there, check your winch and cable. Is there a snag in the cable or something jamming the gears somewhere.
If everything looks good, and it still dont lower correctly, Im lost too.
You might want to consider printing out a check list. Just go through each item when you open it (Correctly) and write it down. When you close it, just start at the bottom and work up. It is easy to get distracted for a minute and forget something. I have done some really stupid things setting up, so don't feel bad. Last fall, I parked about a foot from the power box. I got leveled, raised and pulled out the bunkends. Only then did I realize that I was too close to power to pull out the dinette slide out. Duh!!
SPUTs (Stupid Pop Up Tricks) happen to all of us even if we no longer have pop ups! Last outing I backed in so nicely, we were leveled, stabilizers down, all set up....and then our water hose did not reach to the oddly position location. Had to undo and move only another 15-20 inches and start over. ::) I won't even mention the time we set up on the wrong site a few years back. Our Southeast Rally Group still reminds me of it ... every chance they get. ;D
