I don't think there are any real popups currently offered that come in 1500 to 2000lbs for 8 ft variety. The tent trailers with no roof are 1500lbs. The idea many have is use a CUV like CRV Or Toyota corrola and get into camping. There is zero sport in said models equally hampered on snow, off road and tow cabable.
Yeah those are more like gear haulers. Popups can have every feature a travel trailer can have plus robust lifting systems. I never liked those 1500lb camplights. Money better spent a truck or better camping gear. Put a rooftop tent on a 7500lb rated dump hauler for jack of all trades weekend warrior.
Jen if they are ok with an older pop up. Tell them to look for 1983-84 vikings like mine my camper weighs in at 1230 lbs Jamie and i move it by hand around the property. Any of there pop ups in those years 21 feet and under will be way under 1500 and that gives a lot of towing options. and they came with lots of stuff not just a tent on wheels - 3 burner stove ice box sink and 30 gal. holding tank, just have to find someone that took really good care (garaged kept like ours )
