We got the canopy from a friend and this was our first weekend using it. It worked great with our DD who is almost 2. She had a blast playing in it. 🙂
Thanks Mc7!! We were really happy with it too!
In my opinion, this was no harder or worse than putting up a regular pup awning. As mwownbey said, it is definitely a 2 person job (even though it claimed it could be done by 1). It went up quick and was even easier to roll back up and store. It does not stay mounted to the pup with in transit, but is small enough just to toss inside 🙂
Yes I bought one off of ebay from this seller as well. Had to get it up to Canada though a reshipper.
Used it last year. Not good in high wind (just like any other awning). May not fit well on a high wall Pop-up (was a bit short at the trailer side for me 1979 Coleman) but was flexible that the difference did not affect it. Kept rain off very well - easy to dry. Easy to pack (as does NOT store away on the awning rail). Does take up room on the inside of your trailer. You must put it on before you totally crank the top up....or you will need a latter if you have a TT or other unit. It very light and easy to put on/off.
Worked well for us...except when we had HUGE gusts of winds which is when I took it off - not fun in 65km/40miles an hour wind plus gusting up to 80km/50miles an hour.
I like this, I like this a lot. Just curious how does it hook to the camper roof? Does it slide into my existing awning rail with the round style plastic piping my pup is an older model 1984 viking and doesn't have a an attached bag awing. It does have a an awning that slides into the rail but its such a pain in the butt to erect that I stopped caring it in the camper. I usually bring an easy-up for shelter but would def look into this type of shelter/awning
Hi Vik-king! Yep, it slides into the existing awning track on the pup. It has the same flexible piping on the tent itself that the typical pup awning bags have on them. The only catch is that it can not stay on the rail during travel. You have to roll it back into the bag and store inside the camper. But the bag really isn't very big and doesn't take up much space. With our Jayco, we already had to tote the awning polls with us and store them inside the camper, so this wasn't any different!
It slides on the "awaing" rail that is on nearly every PUP, TT and Camper out there since 1970s... If you don't have a rail (or want to mount it LOWER than the existing rail) they can be bought and added on.
I thought about making a BAG for it - but then would get sunbaked and with traveling might eventually get tore off (like many older bag awnings end up).
ONE disadvantage I see vers (original stock) awning/add-a-room...most have a trailer side skirt. There is NONE in this - so bugs can easily fly in under the trailer and get at you. Benefit is that the WHOLE canopy is about the same size smaller/lighter than a traditional Add-a-room which does not fit into the bag awning.
