Just back from our last outing of this year 🙁 . This year was a strange one for us as we only got out to camp 4 times >:( , but this last outing was quite nice.
I took Friday, today and tomorrow off from work and headed out to Snyders Bend park in NW Iowa. It's a nice little county park pretty close to home which made for a simple get away. I headed out Friday and met some of our camping friends at the park. Had a good time with them around the fire but DW was a little under the weather so stayed home Friday night. She felt better Saturday so joined me at the site. DS & his GF also joined in on Saturday. MIL & FIL came out Saturday evening for supper but didn't stay the night. The weather turned out to be quite nice with daytime temps in the mid 70's & night time lows in the low 40's. We played corn hole, ladder golf and bocce ball and had a great time. Sunday afternoon everyone had to leave but since i had a couple extra days off I decided to stay solo for one night. It was quite peaceful and relaxing because the park pretty much cleared out with the exception of a couple of other campers. I got to go fishing for a bit but the fish were apparently in no mood to take what I was offering up. Cooked a nice ribeye on the grill and just spent the evening in relaxation mode. This morning I got up and took my time packing it in and headed home.
Since i also have tomorrow off from work it will be a day to clean and reorganize the HTT and winterize the water systems.
As I opened with, we did not get out to camp often this year but all of the outings went well. This last one for the season was just what I needed for a little relaxation time. Really looking forward to next season and hopefully a lot more outings then.
We'll be calling it a 2014 season next month when we head down to Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, Florida. It would be nice to have gotten one short weekend in October after our nice TrailManor owners rally, but the weather turned nasty our next day back and temps plummeted for a few nights when we wanted to introduce our 2-yr. old grandsons to camping. We figured it was not a great time with high winds, thunderstorms, and such since they might associate that with camping at night in a strange place without mom and dad. Too busy since then, but may we can squeeze in one overnight soon -- then winterize when we get back from Destin.
Maybe 2015 will see you out there camping more, IA Poppers. :camperkid:
