Has anyone been to Creation at Agape Farm in PA before? It is a Christian music festival June 27 - 30th 2012. DW really enjoys Christian music and our son Loves going to church and listening to the music. We can't get him to go to the nursery, he wants to stay and listen to the music!!
Lori went in 1998 and didn't really enjoy the camping part. She liked the music. She was in a tent, it was muddy, cold showers, she was not an experienced camper and was not prepared for that.
Lori had her T-shirt on the other day.....yes, she has a 14 year old T-Shirt... and I said lets look into that. Nathan should enjoy it and Lori has become more tolerable of camping. Lori should enjoy the festival and if she enjoys that while we are camping, maybe I can slid her up from tolerates camping to enjoys camping :camperkid:
We were thinking of getting a 2 day ticket ($75 each) for Friday and Saturday. Drive up Thursday after work and stay over Thursday and Friday night.
I am wondering about the camping part. They say they have a few sites with hookups, I am sure they are all booked up by now and it is something like $300 for the week. The website says they have free camping in a field for any ticketholder. I am picturing people sharing tent pegs with their neighbors next door. I am fine with that, but my question is can you camp for free for only part of the week? Do you need a ticket for the entire show to camp? Since We are getting a 2 day ticket, would we have to come in Friday morning when our tickets start?
What are your experiences if you have been there before?

I do not know if you can only go for Friday and Saturday nights, if you do, you will probably be parked WAY out on the edge. We were there for the whole she-bang. I would book for a site at a nearby camp ground that has a pool and bath house since you have a little kiddo. That way you can enjoy the day at the camp ground and go over in the late afternoon, take a picnic dinner and your chairs. Enjoy the music in the evening, go back to your camp ground and enjoy the hook ups and pool.
Camping at Agape is in a field (one of many), shared porta pottys, hot showers in trailers for a fee. No hookups that I know of. Single camping units are put farther away from the stages and facilities than the large groups. You walk to all venues from your site. No close parking. Very dusty. Can be extremely hot.
The year we were there was hot during the day, thunderstorms about 5pm everyday (enough to clear everyone out of the main stage area. We were sent back to our sites to take shelter in our cars). Cool nights. Not much shade unless you are in the merchant barns or under the trees for a speaker in the afternoon. You can have campfires at the site. Bring your own wood.
Ice and Milk is available for purchase. There are dumpsters.
You can take and run your generator during the day. The people beside us did that. You could hear their hot water heater fire up as well as the water pump.
I did not take my daughter with me, she was 4 at the time and would have been absolutely miserable. No pool, no creek to play in, no play ground. This venue and grounds is really set up for teenagers and their parents/ youth group leaders.
Let me know if you need any more info. It was an awesome event. I would definitely go again. Our neighbors go every year. They are not campers. They stay in a hotel in Huntingdon.
I was thinking about a local campground but they all seemed to be 45 - 1 hour away from Mt. Union. I just looked again and Agape farm is actually in Shirleysburg which is closer to a few campgrounds. We may do that.
I was kind of liking the idea of being ont he grounds where we could go for the childrens stuff which is only from 9-12, go back for a nap, and then go for another walk or something in the evening. I would expect to be far away if we showed up on Thursday night.
I have been to car shows that sound similar. You park in a big field with no hook ups in a spot that is literally only 20X20 and everything has to be within the lines. When it rained it turned into one big mud bog and the farm tractors would come in to tow people out.
How far is far away? At the car shows I have walked for 20-30 minutes to get to an event on the oppposite side of the grounds. Is it a 20 minute walk to get to the stage or vendor area?
I don't think DS could do it for the full week either. I was wondering how young the kids stage was set up for. It seems they have puppets which made me think they were truly childrens songs and it could keep Nathans interest for a little while. Yes, most of it does seem to be geared for teenagers and would definatly go for the full week with Nathan when he hits that age.
After reading your post, DW is leaning towards not going due to all of the walking and being far away. We are in "discussions" about how far "far away" is for each of us. Personally I would have no problems walking 20 minutes from the camping area to a stage. I see benefits from being on the grounds.

It's not that extremely far. I was thinking of Nathan's time span/attention span. I would say 20 minutes or less for a walk. Not sure about the children's area as I was not involved with that. I would ask at your church or one that goes a lot and see what the leaders thought of the different areas.
You will have a different focus than I did. I was a chaperone for the teens. You will be there as a family.
I am guessing that the childrens stage field where you sit will have many kids half paying attention to the stage and half just playing on a blanket not paying any attention. I am also guessing that kids yelling and running around are probably the norm....but it would be good to have some inside info on what it is like. We were going to chat with someone at our church to see if anyone has gone previously. Since we just moved and we just switched churches we don't know many people at the new church yet.....good way to meet them 🙂
When I was reading the website in the history section of it I believe it started in the 70's and bounced around to a few different campground/farms throughout PA during its history as it grew. It may have stopped at Little Buffalo.

I got a response back about camping for only 2 nights.
If you buy 2 day tickets for Friday and Saturday you can come Friday morning and camp both Friday and Saturday nights. It does not allow you to come Thursday. If you buy entire event tickets you can come whenever you want and leave whenever you want.
Still discussing it with DW.

Lori and I talked, Nathan will be 3 1/2 years old next summer and we have the Class C with AC so we decided to make this our week vacation over the summer. We bought our tickets $94 each for the 2 of us (Nathan is free under 6) and we booked an electric RV site for $375....$590 total. They only have 80 electric sites, the field camping is free. The electric means I won't have to charge up my batteries every day for my CPAP machine and Lori didn't like the idea of no AC so she is now happy for this trip.
I am a little unclear of the "hook ups". One section of the creation website says "electric and water". When I booked it it says Premium electric. The Agape farm says "full hookups". I sent an email to Agape farm to clarify that. It would be nice if I had water and sewer so I could shower in the RV.

It has been 3 days and no response yet. I'll try giving them a call next week. I know there are only 80 RV sites and they say limited quantity available at each price. There are 4 price tiers, I am guessing 20 sites in each tier (no facts, just a guess). The first tier at $350 is sold out. I bought in the 2nd tier at $375.
I am just happy I have electric. The water and sewer would just make it so much nicer.

I just realized I never updated this with an answer to the water and sewer answer.....No.
The regular RV area is used for the staff of the festival, which has the water and sewer. What I am getting is just electric. I don't know how they do it but it seems that I will get a spot in a field with an extension cord. They sent me an email a few weeks ago to find out how many amps I need, 30amp. I expect to see cords on the ground at the back of the site and one plug for me.
I bought a blue water tote so if I fill my tanks up I can dump them without driving. I have a 5 gal water jug that I can fill up with fresh water if I need to.
Since there is no water, I won't be showering in the RV. No problem for DW and me, we'll buy the $25 Hot Shower pass. But what about DS?? He's 3 1/2 and we can't put him in a shower alone....do we have to pay for him as well? Can I shower him in the RV without using a lot of my water? (It has a quick On/Off so you get wet, Off and soap, On and rinse ) So I emailed them and got a response. "As long as your child is going into the shower with an adult hot shower pass and using the same shower stall, then they will not need a hot shower pass". I can live with that.

Having a great time here. Got to the gates tue at 6:30. Then it took 1 1/2 hours to crawl to the campsite. I heard wed was longer. They have 72 electric sites in c section. 75 showed up. They offered to move me...... Next to the main stage!!!! We are in a staff area 300 yards from the main stage. It is loud but fun. We only have to walk to the hot showers.

I am home and got my pictures off my camera and into photobucket. Like I posted previously, we got moved from where we originally were supposed to be in the Electric RV sites. I spoke with some people who helped park people in the RV area. They have 72 RV sites that are 20X50. I walked through the area and they had little flags set up for the edges. Section C 1-20 is the area used for the RV electric sites each year. About a 10 minute walk to the main stage. I would have been fine with that......but my 1 minute walk was better :guitar: I got parked in but that was because they literally just slid us in where they could and close to the electric. Otherwise, I would have been able to pull out. Many had the RV and a Tent in their area. It was cool at night so we didn't use the air but during the day when it rained it was nice to go in the RV and have the air on. Plus we kept the food in the fridge.
The area we were in was a staff area and we met some nice people. Tom and Bruce were behind us with a small group of people who worked the arena security. Some other people we met were Kim, Karen, and Shawn in the Class B beside us and Jeff, Lisa, and Debby, and 1 other guy in a Class C next to us. Then there were some kids in a TT next to them.
Here is my RV all set up with the screen room.....that was awesome.

Nathan taking a bath in the RV. The Hot Showers were a 15 minute walk away. The dump station was 12 minute walk. I took 1 shower in the Hot Showers and then we just showered in the RV and I used my blue tote to empty the gray water. I only went twice and there were a total of 5 showers and 3 baths.
