Hey Miles,
From the online pictures, I concur about the lack of shade and small spaces. I had to laugh about the "rules" which stated: "The guest assumes all risks and danger incidental to the activity of camping in a rustic outdoors environment." It's hardly rustic compared to most of the COE and State Park campgrounds that we've been to. But that isn't why we would go there. Jellystone is all about the activities. ..and we're very interested in checking it out.
How do the reservations work? Did you reserve a specific site? If we come, we would enjoy a site near you guys. Are you guys doing a back in site? ...or a pull through site?
Site 99 looks like it is a pull through site. I'll see if they can put us near you guys. We just need to decide which dates we can be there. Thinking of arriving Thursday evening the 20th, leaving here after the girls' swim lessons are over at 5:30. Not sure if we'll check out on Saturday or Sunday. Laura needs to help set up for VBS on Sunday. So we might do a late checkout on Saturday.
Did they charge you as a family of 6 even though you are only a family of 5? I find that part of their pricing odd. ...or even. 😀
Looks like we will get to be the reviewers for this weekend. Since the DGD's are going to their Aunties for 3 weeks, we wanted to take them camping one more time before they go. They seemed to like the idea of Jellystone in Bremen. (Go figure) We are booked on site 72 which is one of the 8 (blue on the map) sites were they put PUP's. If any of you are in the area stop on by.
OK, Here is the straight scoop on Jellystone Bremen. As far as the activities for the kids, A+. Seems like there is always something going on, and the DGD's (4 and 8) had an incredible time this weekend. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help with anything. Lots of shows and funstuff for the kids. Everything from model rocket making to nature walks. Watch the schedule that they hand out. If the kids hear the hayride or the train taking off and you don't have them ready, look out. Very nice pool including a toddler pool.
Facilities are A+. Everything is super clean including the restrooms/showers. Only one shower house in the middle of the campground, but it is immaculate. ice and staples are available in the store, but take your credit card. They also want you to use only their wood for fires. $4 a bundle.
Only thing that I can say less than complimentary is that the PUP spots that they designate are extremely small. They typically use sites 72-79 for popups and they are small. When we pulled in, we were booked in site 72, and saw that it was just too small. The Ranger (not a real ranger), said to just find any spot that was open and let them know where we were. We had to hustle because there was a huge thunderstorm moving in. We had to set up in the storm which is a whole different story.
Overall, it is a great place to take the kids. They will have a ball.
Thanks Jarhead! We are looking forward to our stay there. I looked up some yogi bear clips on youtube and let our kids watch them. They are looking forward to meeting him. Jace is already worried that Yogi is going to steal our picnic basket. Sorry to hear about your site but glad they were nice enough to let you trade. I will also post about our trip.
