The family and I will be heading to Florida July 18-21. We have reservations at El Governor campground in Mexico Beach Florida. I don't know anything about this place except its directly across the road from the beach. That's the part the kids and the wife are happy about. Has anybody stayed here? Or if some one wants to join us come.

All I know is that it's part of the "forgotten coast" and I haven't seen any part of the gulf between Pensacola and appalachicola that has less than beautiful beaches.  Have fun!

My goal in life is to be the person my dog thinks I am.

We have a friend who rents a bungalow (2BR) on the beach for $400/wk. and she loves it. The beach is white and clean, water beautiful and warm. Hmmm......July.  Maybe.

hi camp dad... just curious... why this particular camp ground? i'm doing the old google earth search and i see that it's a pretty small campground, and you're right... it's a jump to the ocean which is a bonus, but does the area offer any other attractions that you're aware of?

I checked out those reviews as well, Joel, and thought we would rather go to Henderson Beach State Park in Destin or back to Blackwater River SP in Holt, FL. Both cost us more than GA rates because we're not FL residents, but they are both fantastic CGs with what we like. Sorry, Miles, but we don't have kids like you do wanting to live at the beach. We're afraid of turning to leather at our ages. ;D ;D

Idog68, we chose this park on the recommendation of my BIL. He and his family go to Mexico beach and stay in the hotel, which is right on the ocean. I looked at the Google earth photos as well and I agree that it probably isn't the best looking park in the area. We aren't big on overly populated places or tourist attractions so this place seemed more our style. My kids are all still small and it doesn't take much to impress them yet. 🙂 So a couple of days at this beach will be great for them. I will give a review of the place and surrounding areas when we return from this trip.

Judy, leather isn't so bad.  ;D
