Well Friday 7/22 we are off for our 17 day NY to FL trip! We're excited but trying to get ready while working and keeping 4 kids entertained is proving daunting 😮
First day is NY to VA for one night then next day off to southern SC and the third day we will end up in Disney FortWilderness! We'll spend four days there and then are heading to Daytona Beach to spend 8 days. The in-laws live there so we'll be hanging with them alot and pretty much just sleeping in the camper.
I think I have enough entertainment and activities for the car and hope I remembered everything I wanted to. Wish us luck and plenty of sanity on the long, hot trip 😀
Have fun! We've done the VA->FL part of your trip more than a few times.
While not the green thing to do, I'd recommend taking the boat launch to Magic Kingdom and avoiding the buses (by driving to the parks). Your resort parking pass also includes free parking at all of the parks. The buses are nice, but they eat up a lot of time and while usually relatively empty, they can get very crowded during peak times. Take full advantage of the morning Extra Magic Hours -- not too many people do, and you'll almost have the parks to yourself.
Go to Wal-Mart and buy some decent ponchos for everyone. It *will* rain. Just put on the ponchos and keep having fun, especially since everyone else will be diving for cover. The best time to hit most of the rides is during a steady downpour.
One thing we instilled in our kids early is the answer to 'What's the quickest way to get to Disney (or some other location)?' "Sleep!"
Since you won't be too far away, you may also want to do a day trip to hit Cape Canaveral and do the tour.
