Just got back from a trip to Elk Neck State Park.  It was our first trip of 2013 and the first trip in the new Roo.  I decided to do Elk Neck because it is the closest park with full hookups that are open in March.  I wanted to make use of all the systems in the camper.

I was pretty happy with myself backing into the site and getting lined up properly.  The site was level, so I didn't have to use any leveling aids.  Got it set up quickly.  This is a good thing since I had a class to attend Friday evening.  For dinner, we took left over black bean & lentil chili.  This let us try out the microwave.  We popped a breaker.  Turns out that the circuit the microwave is on is the same as the receptacle next to the fridge.  We had an electric heater plugged in there.  I reset the breaker and had no other issues.

While I was in class, the wife and kids watched a movie on TV.  We've never had a TV in camp, and we won't make this a regular thing since we don't often have electric.  The stereo and TV worked fine.

Right before leaving, the LEDs I ordered came in.  So part of Saturday was spent replacing the incandescent bulbs with LEDs.  I found the cheap China bulbs worked just as well as the others I bought.  I was swapping out the one in the stove fan and I must have shorted it out.  I ended up blowing a fuse.  I found out that I don't have that size fuse in my kit.  So that's on the list of things to get.

The rest of the weekend went by fine.  We had some chilly weather, but the heated mattresses kept that off of us.  It also rained a bit, but we didn't have any leaks.  There was some condensation on the bunk ends, but nothing horrible.

One negative with my site is the sewer is at the front of the  site.  My camper has the drains at the back of the trailer.  I didn't have enough hose to reach.  So I had to go into the tanks.  Sunday morning, part of my break down was puling forward and dumping the tanks.  Went without incident.

As we were getting ready to leave, a neighbor stopped to check the ball size on my hitch.  They went to dinner in town.  While there, someone stole the hitch off the truck.  I've never heard of this happening, but I usually have a locking pin going through my hitch.

We had a good time and accomplished what we planned on doing.  I'm not a huge fan of the Northeast loop in Elk Neck because it is the full hookup loos, so there aren't many shaded sites.  But it works great for the first trip of the season.

If anyone is interested, I have some pics for this trip on my blog.  March 15, 2013 Elk Neck State Park Season Opener
