I was at work yesterday and found myself just dreaming about going camping at a local county park only 15 minutes away from where I live. I have never been there, there are no hookups, pit toilets, first come first serve, $15 per night. I just can't wait for this place to open up in April. I have driven through there and it just looks like a great place. The few things I have seen on the internet about it calls it a hidden gem without many campers. That makes me excited.
So, what trip are you dreaming of? Is it going back to your seasonal site, a trip you take every year? Some place you have never been? The Grand Canyon, Fort Wilderness? What are you thinking of while your camper hibernates in the driveway or garage?

I'm dreaming of our maiden voyage in our new HTT. We have several very nice county and state parks near us that are anywhere from 15 minutes away to about 45 minutes away. Our favorite, http://www.mycountyparks.com/c.....-Park.aspx doesn't open until the 1st of May though.
I will likely take a little longer trip in late March or early April, weather permitting. There are some parks in South Dakota about 1 - 1 1/2 hrs away that open earlier so I plan on heading to one of those for our 1st outing this year
What is a pit toilet anyways? Like a permanent non-flushie like the latrines at Girl Scout Camp?
I can't wait to go back to this campground in Jersey, called Mountain View

I've only been there 3 or 4 times, but it was pretty primitive and private. The owners don't bother you at all. Keep in mind the campground is not one of those family spots you see other places with a big TV in the common area (in fact, I'm not sure there is a common area) and no spaghetti dinners, the swimming area is what I like to call a "swimming hole". Clean, clear, but like a 50 foot pond. It's a good place to get away!
Thanks Matt, now you've got me dreaming about Mountain View!
Ahhh yes, first trip in a new camper, in a new area with tons of locations to explore, those are great trips to look forward to. A 2 week trip.....DW would never go for that anytime soon so that is a fantasy to me.
A pit toilet is a seat over a pit that you just do your business in. Yes, your girl scout camp probably had them. No water, no lights, and usually people hover so the seats aren't clean. I'm a guy and they skeeve me out. But I have a porta potty in my camper for the deuce and hey...I'm a guy so #1 isn't an issue.

We are currently planning our "big" trip of the year - driving from NJ to Colorado and Utah for 3 weeks of mountain biking and camping. I think we've even managed to talk a few friends into flying out and meeting up with us for the adventure, which should really be a blast.
So far, it looks like the major stopping locations will be: Pagosa Springs, Durango, Cortez, Moab and either Fruita or Golden. Anyone out there have campground suggestions? Not really looking for a Federal or State park with no water or showers.
This will be the second time we've been to some of the places and can't wait to get back out there to ride our favorite singletrack trails in Moab and Fruita.
This past weekend I was [s]conned[/s] talked into joining a bunch of other Apache owners outside Sequoia NP in June. As of today we've got 29 vintage campers meeting together. This will likely be the largest gathering of Apaches outside of MI (where they were built).
It's kind of exciting getting the trip planned.
French Creek. This will be our first trip out with the NTU HTT.

Not so much winter dreaming as sitting in the front yard last week talking about places to go and see. In July we are going to Letchworth State Park and catch the Genesseo air show, but had nothing planned beyond that. All of a sudden Mary said let's go back down east for a trip (it has been 2 years).
So now we are leaving Letchworth and heading for Halifax, NS to see the Tall Ships Challenge and then to Lunenburg, NS to hopefully see the relaunch of the completely rebuilt Bluenose II and the Marine Museum of the Atlantic. Then on the way home we will stop at Dorchester, NB (my home town) for the Sand Piper Festival.
