I have a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe with a towing capacity of 1600 lbs. What are some things that can be done to make towing easier on my vehicle?

Legally....nothing.

If you get pulled over and are towing 1,700 #'s and your Santa Fe is rated for 1,600 #'s they don't care that you put a larger motor, transmission, heavy duty suspension, etc.

For the 2008 3.3l, towing capacity (from hmaservice site)
748Kgs (1650lbs) is without trailer brakes
1588kgs (3500lbs) is with trailer brakes

Do you have a tranny cooler? It won't increase your capacity, but could keep your vehicle happy.
