we bought a n2u 2000 chevy express van customized. good condition. we have a 2004 fleetwood utah. here is the scenerio: the camper is popped up so we can pack. DH realizes we never checked the plug to the van to see if the brake lights work on the camper (we don't have a brake controller yet, needs to be wired in). he did this while the camper is popped up. the brakes lights on camper did not work. WHY? is there a kill switch while camper up for that? fuses? new plug? we are scheduled to leave for blue rocks campground tomorrow right after work. any help is mush appreciated!!!
thanks

(if you dont understand my rambling sorry, the DH knows more)
Was the camper hitched to the tow vehicle or just plugged in? Did you check other lights? Many lighting problems on trailers are caused by bad grounds, and I've seen and read about many trailers and tow vehicles incorrectly wired to ground through the hitch ball.
I'd start by checking the ground attachments and checking for corrosion on plug terminals. Also take a test light and check the function of each terminal on the TV plug to be sure you've got power.
Even though the van has a hitch, do you know that it was actually used to pull a trailer? We just bought a 2007 Chevy Silverado with factory tow package. But, I had to go under the hood and attach one wire on a power distribution block and add a fuse. The PO apparently never towed anything.

DONT LAUGH, but if you have auto DAYTIME lights, switch it over to manual. we have to do this with the trailblazer.
also, check under your hood panel for the towing relay/fuse. swap it with a similar one and make sure it is good.
lastly, do you have a TOW/HAUL button at the end of your shift lever? my old 3500 GMC did and it would tie into the harness as well ( even though it was for transmission)
