If you have adequate cargo capacity at your disposal, you could tow any conceivable distance with your water tank full. It's really all about what your trailer and tow vehicle can handle.
When I've seen similar questions posted in the past, it would appear that most people don't fill up until they get to the campground, however. My guess is that it's usually because they have enough actual cargo that a full water tank would push them over GVWR.
If I remember correctly water weighs 7.5 lbs per gallon, so you can compute how much addtional weight you would have. Most tanks are pretty much in the center of the trailer so it should not throw your balance off. I would suggest hauling either full or empty though, the slosh of a half tank could throw you off.

Bikendan,
Once more, thank you for your insightful, eloquent input to my posted question. Don't you have a Hybrid TT..?? I am pulling a 2007 Coleman Bayside Pop Up Camper...so specifically as I know you like specifics, what is it specifcally you do not understand??
Thnks, Vern
i guess i apparently irritated you. i apoligize if i did. i'm not familiar with the FW tank on your popup and aren't aware of its limits or issues.
so, that's why i'm confused with the question. is it a weight issue?
Not all campers have the water tank centered over the axle, so a full tank in some cases unloads the hitch weight, or in some cases if you have a lot of stuff can put you over the Gross Vehicle Weight.
On smaller trailers, 1/2 full tanks can slosh hard enought to add to swaying problems. That being said, I towed either Full or Empty, and noticed little difference (this was with a 2008 Fleetwood SeaPine).
My experience (and this is opinion only) has been if the GVW of the trailer in between 2800-3500 lbs, then water doesn't seem to make any difference.

dAN, NOT HATEN, JUST A QUESTION...IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE FRESH WATER TANKS OF A PUP WHY DID YOU ATTEMPT A REPLY TO MY POST?????????i AM NOT A FLAMER, BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME...WHY DO YOU COMMENT ON SOMETHING YOU LATER STATE YOU DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT?? Sometimes it is better to set on your keyboard and leave well enough alone....a passive aggressive post is not a good thing. I hope this does not get me evicted from this forum because I love it here...but dude, if you do not have something authoritative to add save the band width
wolfcat, i used to own 2 popups, a Starcraft and a Viking. both had FW tanks and i never had issues about filling them with water and transporting them.
but i've never owned your particular model and therefore don't know the specific features of it.
but having had popups for 17 years does give me some general experience and knowledge about them. but i'm willing to learn more about them, even though i currently don't have one.
this is why i'm confused about your question. not trying to be passive-aggressive or stir up anything. just trying to understand for my own education.
