Several members have asked me about the staff here so I thought we'd do some introductions:

Joe Camper, Mayor & Rally Moderator, Pennsylvania
I grew up in the scouts and have been an active camper for about 25 years, have often camped with my daughter and friends here.  I enjoy fishing, kayaking and a cold beer around a very big campfire.  I've helped plan over 130 rallies in the last 6 years.  I've often been called the Mayor because everyone seems to know me. 🙂  When I'm not camping, I'm working as a project manager or electrician while making wine, riding my motorcycle or working on my family tree.

Computer Network Geek by day, camping is my way to forget about the world and share outdoor adventures. Its a balance of the quiet times of nature and the out loud fun times shared when groups of friends get together. I assist with the Network management of this site as a way to expand a circle of true social friends in this shared experience called camping. From a backpacker, to tenter, to Popup Camper, to owning a seasonal site in the mountains with a stationary travel trailer, I have had the chance to try all different forms of "camping". As I have gotten older, I have understood that it is much better to collect "experiences" rather than stuff. I am proud to be a part of this site that makes this possible with a new group of friends.

I've been camping since the mid 1960's from a pup to a couple of TT's, back to a Eureka tent for quite a few years, then 3 pups from the early 90's til 2010, now I have a Hybrid. Can't get away from the tenting. It's just not any kind of camping without it. I've worked on a few rallies too, don't really want to count. Camping is my DW's and my way to relax. I've been called a lot of things, but I can't print them here. Maybe too many people know me! 😀

I also was in the Boy scouts in the early 80's.  Me and my father continued the camping experience from tents while taking hunting trips up through the early 90's. In 1990 my father bought a  brand new 1990 coachman bumper pull so that the family could start taking camping vacations.  My high school sweetheart, now my wife, took several trips with us.  Having a father that was a mechanic and being raised in the profession, we seldom took the camper in for repairs.  If it broke, we fixed it.  Me and the wife bought our first pop up, a 1910 Rockwood Freedom in 2012 and away we went.  That was also the year that we adopted a precious lil gift from God, Alana. During the winter of 2012, the Rockwood suffered some storm damage and the whole front rotted out.  After working with the insurance, we replaced it with a 2001 Coleman Niagara with a slide out and bathroom.  We love to camp as many time a year as we can get it.  As far as my background goes, I was in EMS and Fire for 14 years before i got burnt out.  I have now crossed the fence and i am in law enforcement.  Currently i work in the county jail but i have plans to move up from there.  There is not a mod i am afraid to try nor a repair i wont venture to tackle. It may take me a little while to figure it out, but i will do it.  ;D

God Bless and Happy Camping

I started camping with the Boy Scouts in a tent for many years.  I bought my first popup camper in 2008 for $600 as a "test" camper to see how my wife liked it.  She tolerated it and we quickly moved up to a bigger and better popup that she tolerated better, at times enjoying it (although she might not admit it publicly).  We have a 3 1/2 year old son and it was time to upgrade again.  Rather than buy a bigger tow vehicle to tow a bigger Travel Trailer or Hybrid Travel Trailer, we stumbled upon our current 1989 Born Free Class C RV and my son and I are loving it.  My wife may not love it, but we have found a way for us to camp as  a family and enjoy it......which was my goal all along.

I have done many repairs to my campers over the years and when I remember, I take video's of it.  They may not be perfect repairs or modifications, but they haven't let me down yet.

Steve A, Cooking Moderator & CanvasCampers Member Map, Washington
A tent camper and backpacker since a kid in California.  Joined the Navy at age 17 and spent the next 20 years in the South and Mid Atlantic Seaboard when in the US and 9+ years in the Atlantic/Mediterranean.  All that time gave me ample opportunity for camping, hiking and backpacking throughout Scotland, where I lived for five years.  I was in stationed in Spain for four years, but not always "home".  I also backpacked through Germany, England and Wales as well as various day trips in Iceland, Israel, Italy, and Puerto Rico.

After retiring went to culinary school where I worked in restaurants from Miami up into Upstate NY and Ontario, Canada.

Bought first pop up in 2008 and it was stolen four days later.  Bought another at the end of 08 and been popping up Apache style since.

Moved back to the Pacific Northwest in 2010 and now live in the Nevergreen Side of the Evergreen State.  Now work with Special Ed high school students in a program which aids them to gain meaningful employment and live self sufficiently.
