Don't know if you can do this or not but it would be nice to be able to click a "like" button like you can on facebook.....or a smiley or something similar when you don't want to quote the person and comment on what they wrote but want to give them a quick thumbs up for a funny post or whatever.....just an idea.....not sure if your forum program is able to do that.....can you tell i spend alot of time on facebook? ;D....haha.....SCmomma

We had talked about adding a 'like' button during the early stages of starting the site and after a little review, we decided not to because it would promote members to not reply to posts and contribute, rather just 'like' them.  Instead, we added the 'share on facebook' option at the top of each thread for members to share topics with your facebook friends that you find interesting.

There is another very low tech reason we dont have a LIKE button on the topics. (We do have a SHARE on facebook with puts this topic on YOUR wall with a link to it)...... Since a topic will have many replies and a LIKE button is for EACH message in the topic, the displays of all the messages in a topic would be VERY VERY slow while facebook is checked for each one and to see what you are a member of and then to display how many like it that are your friends..... etc. The people that don't have facebook at all would take even longer while it figures it for each message.

In the end, its a speed things, plus we  have seen before in other forums where people stop adding information to a good topic, they just LIKE it, and so get quite boring.

now that you point it out, it makes sense.....i am always amazed at the amount of people who just come and read and don't comment on things to begin with.....i am just not wired that way.....nothing wrong with it, but I can run my mouth with the best of them  ;D
