As far as the winner of the sweepstakes, we run a generic query that picks a winner and now that you have sent this message I researched the member a little. He joined and put one entry in the sweepstakes and he won. I've never met him, camped with him or know him in anyway so how would it be rigged??? It's not like I'm picking friends. The dozen people I camp with regularly have never one... yet.
I tried to have requirements for an earlier sweepstakes other than just being a member and the sweepstakes entry dropped a lot so a member can now enter without posting or anything else and win. I've worked with several companies to give away free nights of camping, a Weber grill, a Coleman lantern, a Bal Leveler and other items. I gain nothing and just do it for YOU, the members.
Wish you were happy for someone who has won the sweepstakes! Maybe be glad that TMMull has given the Bal Leveler he won back for the current sweepstakes? You had 39 entries so shouldn't Beerlifter who had 55 entries or the other 18 members who had more deserve to win? Craig, I've offered more features and better communication than the other 3 large camping forums. If you choose to leave, it would be your loss.
Craig, I wrote the code that picks the winner as well as giving a final report of how many people entered as well as some other totals so we can see how popular a particular sweepstakes is.
PHP and MYSQL code plays no favorites and no one, including me - the author of the program, can influence the pick of the winner.
For those that read code, here are the lines that pick the winner. Note the code picks 3. That is done in case the winner is either a moderator or staff or a previous winner.
