This maybe a dumb questions but is there a way to bake croissant rolls or biscuits while camping without an oven?

The way's I know involve an oven. Colman makes a  portable oven to use on a camp stove and a Dutch oven can be used to bale over a camp fire.

I had one of those stove top Coleman ovens and it did, well ... o.k. ... but then, I got into dutch oven cooking and really like the results much better. A little more work to be sure, but much better results, and I've found it a fun thing to do.

There are two kinds of dutch ovens (at least the cast iron kind) - the first kind is usually used on a stove or over a camp fire. It has a flat bottom and a rounded top. The second type is called a "camp dutch oven" and has a flat top and three short, stubby legs. This is the one you can bake with using either coals from the fire or charcoal. You place on top and under the DO. Here's what that looks like (and the very make & size I have) ~

I have one of these we used for years on kayak trips. You can use it on almost any type of burner. Not huge but it does a pretty good job.

You could tent a griddle with foil, which does turn it into an oven.  Your problem will be regulating the heat.  But it can be done.

You could also use a toaster oven.

We do our baking in a dutch oven. There are conversion charts online for how many briquets to use to get the temp you need. Takes so trial and error but works great!

I use a little stove top oven.  It gets the job done.
