Do you ever make "camp" food at home? What do you make?
I am having a BBQ at home this weekend and my SIL is amazed at the idea of baking a cake in a fire. So on the agenda is a fire in the backyard, a dutch oven, and box of cake mix. This will be my 4th time cooking in the DO so it may not come out good. Plus my SIL is very good at baking and decorating cakes. I have already warned her that they sometimes don't come out pretty.
Do you ever cook hot dogs over a campfire at home, marshmellows, tin foil cooking, etc?

Well, was your SIL impressed? How'd the cake turn out?
With all the rain we have had for days and more to come, Independence Day was a wash out for outdoor events. At least with the big oaks dropping like flies from ground saturation, there will be lots of firewood to finish out the summer and provide for fireplaces this winter!
I'll let you know how it comes out Sunday. We'll be doing the BBQ Saturday. Actually I bought Brownie mix. I was at BJ's and I just didn't like the cake mix. Plus my SIL is bringing a cake so I figured I'd mix it up a bit.

Yes, I cook in my DO regularly. Probably 2-3 times a month. While the kids are playing and running around the yard I will set up a DO or two and cook away. When they get ready for dinner I usually have something ready. We also have a fire pit on the back porch and one in the yard. Those are mostly reserved for hotdogs and smores.
It turns out we did not make a fire, so no DO brownies. The kids were having a blast in the pool and we had so much food anyway. I wanted to have a fire, but I can't argue with a happy kid.
