I just made a mince pie (already had a pumpkin ready), gingerbread loaf, and a couple of cream cheese dips - one pumpkin pecan cheesecake flavor for the gingerbread and one raspberry chipolte for crackers. Eight Cornish hens are thawing in the fridge and the "Normandy mix" cauliflower/broccoli/carrots) will accompany the hens along with potatoes au gratin. Musn't forget the spiral sliced ham either! Christmas cookies were made yesterday and await Santa and guests, and the Soda Stream flavors are lined up to mix. Then, of course, are the hors d'oeuvres and goodies the others are bringing! Between Christmas Eve with poached salmon and li'l smokies with finger foods and Christmas day with a sit-down dinner, we should all certainly be festively prepared to welcome the Light of the World. I'm sure there are some other things (like jalepeno yogurt dip, fruit slices, candy, etc.) that all ages and dispositions will make everyone happy.
Singing at church tonight in the choir and reminiscing as we troll the Yule Tide Carols, will be the peaceful and joyful interlude before we go back to the family gathering of food and fun. This year we will open our presents on Christmas Day rather than the Eve because of schedules, but being together and celebrating the Reason for the Season is the real Gift.
Merry Christmas, y'all!
Saturday Night we had ham with all the fixings at one get together, yesterday, I had homemade chili for my kids get together. Left overs tonight. Tomorrow, I will cook a big breakfast after the grandkids gets through with presents from Santa. Probably sandwiches for lunch and Spagetti for Supper. I'm with ya Campdad! Judy, what time do we need to be over there to help you clean some of that food up?

Anytime Christmas Day would be a great time, Jimmy! You're more than welcome, too, to come and make breakfast here (I've got bacon, sausage & a Belgian waffle maker) and then y'all stay for dinner. The more, the merrier! We used to have immediate family gatherings of about 35, but many have passed on or we are in a few different states. Tomorrow, we will only be having an even dozen adults & teens plus the little twins - who don't eat grown up food yet!
My, oh my! We even had desserts left over from tonight at our daughter's home, so they will be seeing some of those pies and cookies again! We stopped back over there after church tonight to tote the stuff back. It's so foggy out and we will notbe able to see Santa's flight but will be listening for him. A loud clap of thunder woke us last night!
