Scored a new Igloo ICE109 Compact Ice maker for $25

Don't know that we will bring it every weekend but definitely on longer weekends.

Does anyone else use one?  Would you recommend it?

I stop in goodwill every week while Nathan is at Karate and I always look for an ice maker....haven't found one yet.  Good for you.  Can I borrow a cup of ice?

Just remember, it is an ice maker, not an ice storage. The retainer basket for the ice is very short term storage. Some ice makers take the melting ice water and send it back to make new ice.

This thing makers ice every 8 minutes. I'm impressed.

it is not very insulated so the ice can melt and drain back into the water reservoir if you don't use it or transfer to an ice chest.

I had one for few years that had died after alot of use. I wasn't going to replace it, but missed not having one. We replaced it with one of a higher capacity. They make alot of ice all day long. As far as insulation goes. I took one apart to repair for a friend and found the area around the ice chamber to be well insulated. Once it cools down the ice will melt much slower. I turn it off at night so as not to here the ice dropping into the basket in the middle of the night. In the am there is still ice in the basket. Like the plumbing in your camper it does take a little TLC. Follow the instructions for cleaning and use filtered or bottled water.  Keep it in the shade or better yet in the camper if you can.
