DH is thinking about building a chuck box over the next 2 months.  He is very good with his hands but there is a lot of deal in making one.  It will be very useful to have everything organized and a work area.

Here is a video of the general idea.

I think it's going to take up a lot of space. If you like to cook or cook for a big family, I guess you might need it. I try to keep to the less is more for kitchen items as camping food for us is simple. We use the stove outside and a folding resin table. If it's cold, cooking is done inside. Simple meals when cooking. Less to clean up.

I agree the size of that box not to mention the weight of it, seems a little bit much..

Honestly, I can see people wanting or needing these if they tent camp, or have a bare bones trailer with no galley at all but other then that I don't see much use for them..  but that's me..  I can see you maybe needing one to use more for organizing or storing your cooking gear in the back of your tv..

That's a nice, well thought out design and the craftsmanship looks very good. Beyond that, it's far, far more than we'd want to carry or set up. That looks like it has more space than the old patrol boxes we used in Boy Scouts in the 1960s, and those were monsters.

We have a full galley in the camper, but rarely use it for more than washing dishes and brushing teeth. As much of the cooking as possible is done over the fire and that is relatively simple, unless our son the chef is with us and plans meals. Even then we wouldn't need 1/4 of that space. Our "kitchen" consists of two 12" griddles, an old steel frying pan, two pots and a Dutch oven. All utensils, other than the large spatula and tongs, fit in one drawer.

Everyone has different needs and styles of cooking, meal planning, etc. If that's what fits yours, it looks like you have a very sturdy and functional kitchen. Nice job!
