We were making a reservation last evening and DW noticed local restaurants listed on the campgrounds website. Now she wants to eat out rather than buying groceries. I'm the one who does much of the cooking and it's part of the camping experience. Do you go out to eat while camping? Maybe the food will suck and she'll wish I had cooked.
For me, a big part of the experience is the camp food. I think there are things that when cooked in the fire taste better than at home. Plus, I like camping because it can be an inexpensive vacation, restaurants aren't cheap most of the time.
Check out the recipe part of the forum https://canvascampers.com/inde.....?board=6.0 I'm excited to try lasagna in a dutch oven!!
That said, a big breakfast at a local diner totally cures any crappy night sleeping because of noisy neighbors or not realizing my bed wasn't level until it's too late 😉 And it can be fun to go to a different places than you have around home. (ooh, that reminds me to look for a cici's pizza in gettysburg, lol)

We'll go looking for a restaurant once in a while, but not often. It's usually a case of overnight or morning rain making cooking breakfast a miserable affair, or arriving later than planned on Friday and making a last-minute decision to eat out instead of waiting for the fire to be ready.
We much prefer cooking our own meals. It's part of the camping experience, we both enjoy it, and we often make recipes that differ from the usual home fare.

We've grabbed something to eat for lunch before while out exploring the area we camped in. But we've never planned on hitting restaurants while actually camping.
If we are using the pup as a replacement for a hotel room, then we will hit restaurants sometimes.

if we are staying more than 3 days, and in a NEW area that has something unique or different to offer than usual, then we will make the trek to town.
example, wife had never been to plymouth, ma. ( I have several times)
we stayed at miles standish SP. went to see the ROCK, and ate at a wharfside shack that had awesome whole bellied clams and fresh catch fried fillets.
if your destination is taking you to a festival and you are camping to save on hotel fees, then you will eat at the fair, right?
if just a 3 day hop, then camp food all the way !
