Witches' Warts
Serves: 8 (2 oz. per serving)
Preparation time : 20 to 30 minutes

Our version of the Witches' Warts is very simple. These are actually sugarcoated peanuts, similar to beer nuts served in bars. All you need are print-out labels to accompany them!

Equipment:
A wide and deep pan, so the peanuts can move around freely
Stove
Flat tray
Small individual bags
Our version of this popular Halloween snack is delightfully unique!
Ingredients:
1 cup water
2 cups raw shelled peanuts
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup brown sugar
Powdered white sugar (for sprinkling)
Fine Salt (optional)
Instructions:
1. Mix one part water to one part sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
2. Pour sugar-water mixture in the pan.
3. Over medium heat, bring to a boil. Stir constantly so the sugar doesn't stick to the pan.
4. Pour in the peanuts once it starts to boil. Continue stirring.
5. Cook until the sugar-water starts caramelizing and the color turns golden. It should be the consistency of honey. Do not wait for the caramelized sugar to turn into a dark amber color because this will continue to cook even after you remove it from the heat.
6. When the peanuts have turned into a nice golden color, remove from the heat. Sprinkle with salt depending on preference. Stir peanuts.
7. Tip it onto a flat tray to dry. Make sure that the nuts are spread out evenly in a thin layer so they will be easier to break off.
8. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
9. Once the peanuts are nice and cool, break apart into small portions.
10. Place in small transparent bags, seal and label.
Another recipe of Witches' Warts consists of chocolate coated nuts or raisins. The ingredients and instructions are basically the same, instead of adding peanuts, add the chocolate coated nuts/raisins when the sugar has caramelized and turned into the consistency of honey. Coat evenly with the caramelized sugar and remove from heat.
