I'm planning to replace our factory thermostat with this Honeywell digital one.  The size should be small enough to keep it in the same location.

Is it for heat only?or does yours control the a/c too? I just got the square one from walmart and it fits perfect.  Also is that one battery operated?

A lot of people use the digital ones from Home Depot that will fit in the old ones location in the camper. Most add some wire to the existing wire so they can pull the thermostat out of recessed area and put it on top on table/countertop to get a more accurate temperature reading while sleeping in bunk ends. They use Velcro to hold thermostat in recess box till needed.

I used the one from Walmart. No extra wire. Tried it out in the original location and it does great. Biggest difference in the new compared to old it's the 1 degree margin instead of 5 degree margin of the old. Seems to be keeping a nice stay temp now

I did the thermostat mod in the Bayside, but I wired it to a phone jack.  That way I could take the thermostat to the bed end.  This allowed us to turn up the heat in the morning from the warm sleeping bag.

Easy to wire up, details on this blog post

Adding wire and placing it in a different location is a great idea! Any suggestions on the best place to get it to work the best?
