Stokes,
I have not replaced my pup anode rod yet. But I am a volunteer Fire Fighter and have replaced the anode rods in the tanks of our engines several times. The tanks have 8 to 10 anode rods in them. The tanks are always filled with water and the rods last 5 to 8 years. We dont replace those till they look half eaten through. If yours just have bumps then they are still good.
