We will be heading up to Vermont in September for a week long + trip. The total driving distance from here in SW PA is around 560 miles and I want to break up the driving. I am looking for suggestions or comments on some of the NE PA parks for one or two night stop overs on the way up and back. I'm trying to stay with Parks that have electric and pet sites. So far I have been considering;

Worlds End
Lackawanna
Promised Land
Hills Creek
Locust Lake
Francis Slocum
Hickory Run

Worlds end and Promised Land I have been to before, although it was over 20 years ago. I don't really remember much about them.

Any comments, site suggestions, recommendations are very much appreciated.
Thanks

I have been to both Lackawanna & Promised Land a few times over the last few years and they are decent campgrounds and with in a few minutes of a highway (81 & 84 Respectively)  I stayed at Worlds End a few years ago, I really was not impressed by the campground though it did serve its pourpose as a hunting base camp.  Its also in the middle of nowhere, the only thing around for miles is a gas station right down the road.

Hickory Run is Little Suburbia in season, packed in, as we used to say, "bellybutton to a*****e."

Promised Land: Beechwood in Lower Lake is suburbia-ish. Northwoods is pretty nice, and takes animals.

Thanks.

I am hoping to avoid suburbia and crowds, even though will be on the weekends it being after Labor Day should cut down on the crowds. I know out here in the western side of the state the SP's don't get used near as much after Labor Day. Its only going to be for a night or two anyway.

Dave S,

Even though Worlds End is in the middle of nowhere, and its really off the beaten bath as far as running highways to get to Vermont, its actually at the top of the list right now. I figure just getting there from I-80 here in PA, and then from there North to I-86 will add a few hours to the trip running all 2 lanes. Middle of nowhere is a good thing even only for 1 night. Were you deer hunting up in that area? and how was it? We used to deer hunt next door in Tioga County and always had good luck.

Geezer,

One of my friends customers has property bordering state game land 13.  Hunting was not bad ( I took moderate 6 pointer, my friend ended up with a nice sized doe), but once we came off the private land we had access to on to the state land there were way to many hunters for my comfort, than again I'm use to hunting in the northern Adirondacks where seeing anther hunter out side of the parking area is rare.

Thanks for the ideas / comments. Keep them coming. Next year I am going to have to take off two straight weeks, maybe hit a rally and bounce around some of the State Parks in the eastern part of PA. The more I look into them the harder it gets to make a decision for one night on the way up and one night on the way back.

If it was me, for one night, I'd pick something close to interstate.  That way, if I was running behind on time, or feeling ready to stop for the day, I't be easy to get into, especially if it's gotten dark on you.
