Joe and I camped at Pine Grove about 3 years ago. At the time they had just started installing "modern" bath houses, i.e. the foundation was poured ;).
I remember the sites were nice and large, typical of the PA State Parks.
We went there with our mountain bike club to ride the trails that are in the Michaux Mega Series. There are plenty of trails there, and for anyone who is into quading, there is quad access in this park with plenty of quad trails.
We were really looking forward to riding the bikes there again for this trip, but unfortunately I separated (dislocated) my shoulder a week ago, so no mountain biking for me for another few weeks. Guess I'll have to be happy riding through the Gettysburg battlefield.
Reporting Back:
Pine Grove Furnace SP was one of the nicest PA state park I've stayed in, and I've camped at more then 3/4 of them over the years. Large stone level sites, large distance and privacy between sites, paved roads, brand new bathrooms, deep natural woods throughout. Great history on site, close to Gettysburg and Maryland. I highly recommend it and will be planning another group trip there next year. :ranger: Don't take my word for it, check it out next year.
