The Top 5 US States for Camping

There are a lot of great camping and outdoors destinations across the United States -- camping is abundant at national and state parks, forests, wilderness areas and preserves.

Each US state has a unique appeal, but we asked which are your favorite camping states and these five stood out from the rest: Colorado, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico and New York.

That really surprised me. I thought Virginia would certainly be there.

I was surprised to see Missouri on the list. Have never camped there but since it is a neighboring state I kust may have to make the short trek south to see what I can find

Not surprised by Colorado, since I basically grew up there every summer. Every summer we treked out there for 3 weeks of camping. We camp a lot now in NY and we have plans to possibly go back next year. New Mexico was a little strange for a pick, but we only have been there once, so there might be more than meets the eye.

Va is beautiful, grew up there 8)
