I just booked our first PUP trip for next weekend, the campground has 50 amp electric and I'm almost sure this will blow up my old Coleman camper.  Do I need a converter to bring it down to 15 amps?

Yes you will need an adapter. You shouldn't be able to plug your cord into the power supply (50amp) without it.

50 amps is the most it will supply. Your camper will only draw the amperage needed for the equipment you have turned on. So no 50 amps won't harm your camper.  You will need an adapter if your camper plug is the standard 3 prong 110v plug. Se this one. http://tweetys.com/15a-to-30a-.....apter.aspx  Walmart probably has them. Most campgrounds I've been to, usually have a standard outlet beside the 50 amp one.

Just out of curiosity, are you sure it's only 50 amp service. Most of the campgrounds that I've been to that have 50 amp service also have 30 amp and simple 110v outlets on the power post. They just advertise 50 amp for the big Motor Homes & 5ers

this is so true! you know that you could contact the campground and ask what outlets the post has in it.
most common if it has 50 amps, is a 50 amp outlet, a 30 amp RV outlet and at least one 20 amp household outlet.
but if it is 50 amp only, an ADAPTER is what you need. many times the campground will have them to rent.

Good point, I sure wish I were going camping. Let us know about your trip, it helps to keep us sane in the winter months  🙂
