We recently purchased our new hybrid and it came with a Concertone ZX75 radio/cd/dvd sytem built in. Ours just happens to be one of many that have had problems, the cd and dvd player doesn't spin the discs. I've read on other forums where there have been a multitude of issues with these but since I'm still under warrantee I'm going to try to swap mine out to see if I can get one that works properly. The dealer I purchased from is more than 4 hours away so it doesn't make much sense, ecconomically, to pull the trailer that far for the change out.
Does anyone here have experience changing these things out? Concertone doesn't have much on their website about installation and nothing at all in the manual. From what I've read they are kind of just plug and play so I think it would be easy enough to do it myself. Thoughts?
Yes, I've read that the Concertone ZX75 (owned by Forest River) is a bad piece of equipment and they are notorious for a multitude of problems. You should be able to pop the unit out of the cabinet and check the back for loose hookups.
Here are a few photos of the unit and there might also have a wiring diagram on the back, like this one.
Knock on wood, I have the same unit in my Flagstaff Highwall popup (Forest River) and so far it hasn't had any problems - but on the FR user website there are 100's of complaints on that particular model.

just to clarify, Concertone is not owned by Forest River.
it is an independent company that sells its units to FR and other RV manufacturers.
there is a Concertone rep that assists owners with tech questions and assistance, on Forest River Forums, which has no connection with either company.
since this rep, Bob Fields, has joined Concertone, their reputation and quality has gone up.
their newer RV units have some cutting-edge features and the complaints have dropped significantly in the past few years.
not trying to promote another forum, just trying to direct the OP to getting some help from a Concertone employee.
if you decide to replace it, the Jensen AWM970 should be close in dimensions and is a popular replacement. best prices are on Ebay.
Yeh, I got a note from Bob Fields, that to me, seemed a little off the mark of good customer service. He wrote, and I quote, "Sometimes people tell me they have had problems "since day one" yet they don't utilize their factory warranty during the warranty period. This I will never understand... "
Now maybe, Bob, or myself, was just having a bad day but this response kind of p'd me off.
I bought my camper from a dealer that is more than 4 hours away because they had the model that I really liked and none of local dealers had one or had nothing comparable for the price.
For me to take off work and take my camper that far for such a minor problem would cost me more than double what the replacement unit would cost. My dealer has stated that they can't just send me a replacement because they have to have the original to return per the manufacturer's policies.
I would hope that the original company would send me a new unit with a prepaid return package and I could swap them out myself and return the defective unit.
I called Concertone this morning but had to leave a message and so far I've heard nothing back so I'll try to be patient.
Days later after leaving a message on Concertone's voice mail I have yet to receive a call back.
Well since I'm not getting much help from them I decided to try some things on my own. Last night I figured out how to remove the unit. I took it out and all connections seemed fine. I put it back in and when I did I pressed some on the inside, near the center, where a dvd is placed. I loaded a dvd and it started to spin but stopped again. I took the dvd out and pressed again on unit, this time, to the left of center. Put the dvd back in and it worked. So far it has been working even after switching dvd's in and out so maybe something in the unit was just misaligned or something. I'm not very confident in the quality of this unit but for now it works so I'll live with it.
I've done that. I had a bad water pump when I first got my HTT. The dealer I purchased from was over 4 hours away, for many of the same reasons already noted - actually in stock and at a better price. They did finally just ship the new one to me and I replaced it myself. There were no problems with the exchange, other than it taking a while.
We have the same Concertone ZX75. So far, it's worked, but we don't use it for much other than the radio except on really rainy days. My only frustration with it so far is the really poor documentation on how to set the clock.
