We are about to go on our last camping trip for the year and we want to give the pup a good scrubbing before shutting her down for the year when we return, what's the best thing we could use on the canvas that will clean it really well?

I have cleaned our pup s exterior canvas with a light solution of Dawn dish-washing detergent and water with a soft scrub brush. If there is mold and mildew or stubborn stains Bass Pro makes a all natural cleaner that really works great. After washing it I always put new waterproofer on it to be sure it sheds water the next season. Lastly a liberal amount of Bounce Original dryer sheets are put everywhere inside. I put them in because I like to think it helps keep the mice away. We have had no problems with mice so for me I have to believe it works. If it doesnt help repel the mice it sure does make the pup smell good and fresh for the new season.

Thanks for the info we will try it. I had heard about the dryer sheets keeping the mice away im glad you reminded me of that thank you. I would hope the cat would keep the mice at bay but he's a bit of a softie

I found dryer sheets tucked in all the corners, around the water intake hose, and the door threshold deters ANTS. We had mouse signs (read: poop & smell of pee) on the extra bed and the countertop last winter. After disinfecting, to deter any further problems, I put small pinecones dipped in Blue Spruce essential oil into a shallow metal container (such as a canned chicken breast can with saved lid). The smell of the pine deters mice (we haven't had any more signs) and also makes one feel like you're in the woods! It's relaxing as well if you like Blue Spruce trees. The can lid is placed over the filled container when we are in the camper since we have dogs who could knock over the can and spill the oil.

GA Judy I like the pinecone idea but Im not sure where I would find Blue Spruce essential oil, but Im definitely trying the dryer sheets and hoping it deters ants, we have had a ton of ants in the yard this year and they have been on the outside of the camper but fortunately they havent managed to find their way in yet. Thanks for the advice.

For ants, use Terro. Just put it by where you see the ants, that will take care of them.

I have always used Woolite on the exterior of the canvas on our pup and, still now, on our htt. It's mild and really brightens and cleans the canvas well. I clean the canvas once at about mid season and then again when winterizing. Never had any ill effects from Woolite.
