Just made a reservation for a State Park, and it cost me some 22 bucks JUST TO MAKE THE RESERVATION, over and above the nightly fee. That tends to **** ** *** that would be ---- me off). I'm really sick and tired of the "let's squeeze everyone's b***s attitude toward making money. Camping used to be a really reasonable monetarily viable alternative to "getting away from it all", but the Powers That Be seem to be set on squeezing every buffalo until it s***s. "Let's hide the charges" seems to be the current battle cry. Frankly, I'm tired of the apologeticists who seem determined to give in to everything, and make excuses for everything the money-grubbers want to do to us. I'd just as soon as stop camping for a year; yes, a year. ZERO income for them. I'm damned tired of having my n**s squeezed.

As I say this, I think I'm turning into my dad. :- I remember about 5 or 6 years ago, PA state parks were $12 during the week and $15 on weekends.  Now for a site with electric and pet, they are $32 range per night.

$15.00 - Resident Price
$17.00 - Non-resident Price
$4.00 - Premium - Fri. Sat. Holiday, Events
$4.00 - Modern (showers)
$5.50 - Electricity
$8.00 - Water
$2.00 - Designated Pet Campsite
$4.00 - Extra Vehicle

those of us who camp in California, wish we had your situations!

sites with electric/water cost $50-$65 per nite. basic campsites, with a fire ring and picnic table, costs $35 per nite. and that's without the extra fees. >:(

Just wait until your State decides to pull all the tax funding that still goes towards your parks...  You'll then be up around what we pay...

Here a Provincial Park site with hydro (only) runs between $40 and $48 per night...  add about $5 -%10 per night on a long weekend..  add taxes and your resi fee ..  and your up to almost $60 per night ...  now that price does vari a little depending on if the Park itself is a popular park or not... (more popular = more expensive) and whether the site selected is popular ...

Wow. Reading this thread makes Fort Wilderness camp grounds at Walt Disney World in Orlando seem like a bargan at $41/night. With that price you get all the safety, security, conveniences, and amenities of Disney World without spending hundreds of dollars per night. I remember staying at the Contemporary for $100/night about 20 years ago. I hate to think how much it costs now.

First, you don't really get security, because they'll let anyone into Fort Wilderness as long as you show them a driver's license and the $41 is during Value Season only. Peak Season, that same site goes for $78, but I get what you're saying, because we are going in November. BTW, the cheapest at the Contemporary during Value Season is $300.00 a night.

Best Regards,
Norm

Currently, Ohio State Parks are in the 25 - 30 range for electric.  They don't charge for pets or kids or anything.  There is a reservation fee of $8.25.  Our privately owned campgrounds are way more than that.  So it tells me that if the state funding is cut to much our prices are going up, hopefully it won't be over 40 a night.

Fla SP are $22 @ night for residents, that includes water @ electric.  There is no reservation fee but there are some fees to cancel or move your site. The private parks are much more.
I can remember when they were $3 a night. Still 22 is not bad. I am quite sure that will change soon.

Our prices in Florida range from 18.00 a night up to 36.00 for parks on the water with the reserve america fee paid by the state park.  One thing I did notice was the cancellation fee has gone up from 10.00 last year to 17.75 this year.  My neighbor is on the board of the friends of rainbow springs state park and she told me that we may soon have to pay reservation fees as it leaves the park with very little income for the cg and as the budget has been cut they need all they can get.  I sure will hate to pay a reservation fee but even with that I am sure florida state parks will remain a bargan

I just pay and camp.  It is way cheaper to camp all year long than go to Jamaica every year for a week like my BIL.  I'm sure 20 years from now it will be $100 per night (hopefully I will be making $100k per year to compensate for the increase )

Here in florida you pretty much have to pay to plug in due to the heat we need ac to be able to cool down after hiking or fishing or to sleep.  I know some people can do without the ac even in the florida heat but at my age I prefer to at least get as good a nights sleep as I can since I have a disability.
