The big thing that we found to be a nuisance this past weekend were the number of car alarms we could hear going off. Many were during the day while the owners may have been away from their site on a walk or something. It happened again twice after quiet hours. I wish people would learn to work their car alarm system or turn them off while at a campground.
Completely agree!
That happens so often that, IMO, there should be a sign telling owners to disable the alarm when entering the campground. Threaten fines for anyone whose alarm goes off unnecessarily.
For some reason, we hear it most often at Cowens Gap SP. The only time I can remember when it didn't happen there was last November ... but there were only four campsites occupied. ;D

How do you turn of a car alarm?
I've never owned a car with an alarm so I don't know that answer. I remember looking at a car, years ago, that had an alarm so sensitive that it went off as the salesman was getting the key out of the box on the window. He told me it could be adjusted or turned off.
On newer cars I'd guess that you'd have to check the manual. I would hope that they could be disabled.
