Well, I've been like a kid waiting for Christmas Day but our local RV Show is finally here and after the fun we (well my DDs and me) my DW was not unhappy about going last year but she's really not wild about going this year however her mother, the girls and I are all looking forward to it as a family thing. From what I've been reading here and on other sites this helps to define what we want and to talk to the dealers about what we're looking for should they get it in trade.
I also have another reason this year, one of the dealers is hiring and I'm looking for something new maybe P/T since I really don't want to leave my faculty position at a local high school but I'm trying to finish off my degree...yes I'm an old guy getting my degree finally. I'll report back after we go.

Well we went, had a blast but I was a bit disappointed in a few things...
1. Not as big as last year...KOA wasn't even there.
2. Very little for the entry level folks like myself.
3. Too many out of town sales staff who assessed real quick that we were only there to look.
What I did like was the fact that some of the smaller dealers actually spent time with us and that ALL the trade-in from the show will stay local so I might find something in the next few days.
I also didn't see some of the new-wave looks or diversified floor plans... everything was similar.
Also very few PUP's or Hybrids which surprised me.
I did see some retro looking things that though they looked great, just didn't fit our needs.
I loved the open tail on the RPD's but inside was too small for the 4/5 of us.
My DW who is dragging her feet on getting a camper was even having a good time and of course my DD's had a blast as did I and Grandma who'd like a Class "C". Last year my DW almost stroked a ck for a simple PUP that was on special but this year there were only a very select few, maybe less than 5 at the whole show. Aliner had a nice display but they're just not for us and Viking had a trailer with bunk beds that both my wife and girls liked but seemed cramped if we brought along Grandma, still I didn't think they made anything that light weight.
I did learn that the new Hybrids are so much lighter than their older brothers and are now within my towing capabilities. The few PUPs that I did see my favorite was a Jayco but my DW didn't like the fact that it had two tables and the layout was horrible otherwise it may have sparked her attention. I did talk to many other potential buyers and like me they were mostly unimpressed that there was very little for them to see on an entry level. It's places like this that inspire those of us looking for Used to buy New and the show fell short, in my opinion.
So after spending $6.00 each x 3, my DD's were free, I came away with a few salespeople taking my name, a little more info for my decisions down the road, a ball cap, 2 frizbees and 2 small plastic toy footballs and a lot of disappointment, oh well it was still family fun on a beautiful if cool Florida day.

fmhappy,
You have no idea, I've already sent an e-mail to my p.o.c / sales agent at Camping World telling how unhappy my family was with the show and the way we got treated by their "out of area" sales staff. Even the Internet Sales Mgr. for CW sent a blanket e-mail talking about how wonderful everything went...I sent him MY opinion after actually being there and talking to others in my same situation.
I have to wonder if these sales reps from other parts of the country were given a bonus if they achieved certain goals to come to Florida and sell the "High End" stuff?
